Novartis unwavering in support one year on from the start of the war in Ukraine
Novartis has marked the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine. Novartis continues to condemn the ongoing conflict, while the unwavering support to those impacted continues through humanitarian aid, financial donations and critical medicines.
Novartis, a global medicines company, has been working towards providing medical aid to the people of Ukraine and border areas who rely on their drugs. The company has delivered more than 1.5 million packs of medicines, valued at approximately USD 38 million, to maintain the supply of essential drugs to those in need. In addition to this, the company has also donated USD 3 million to charities supporting refugees and displaced people in Ukraine and neighboring countries. Novartis’ associates have voluntarily donated an additional USD 2.2 million in solidarity to support this cause.
The situation in Ukraine has affected many patient organizations (POs) that are now facing unprecedented challenges to deliver core support services and address other pressing needs. Novartis is supporting these POs with a USD 1 million aid to ensure that they can continue providing services such as patient transfer to get treatment abroad, translations of medical reports and patient data, and dissemination of knowledge of hospitals prepared to admit patients, among others. The company recognizes the critical role that POs play in ensuring the health and safety of their constituents and is committed to supporting them during this challenging time.
Novartis has always prioritized the safety and security of its people. With the start of aggression in Ukraine, the company suspended its operations in the country and focused on providing humanitarian support. The team in Ukraine is now working remotely, ensuring that those in need of life-changing medicines receive the best possible support from Novartis and Sandoz.

The company will constantly review the situation in the country and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of its people and to support the affected communities.
