The GBH 18V-22 Professional from Bosch gives professional users a particularly lightweight and compact cordless rotary hammer in the two-kilo class that offers users a high level of health and safety protection. It has been optimized for overhead installation work, making it easier for electricians, for example, to drill dust-free holes for ceiling lights. Every part of the working process is cleaner and better for the user’s health, as the dust extractor GDE 18V-12 Professional is designed to fit seamlessly on the rotary hammer and removes dust at the point of creation. The extractor is powered by the rotary hammer’s battery, so that users are not strained by any additional weight. For optimal handling, Bosch recommends using the 4.0 Ah battery, which sits flush with the rotary hammer’s housing and allows the power tool to be conveniently set down between tasks. The Professional 18V System covers all major 18V applications and even works with brands beyond Bosch, with additional partners in the multi-brand AmpShare battery alliance. Many brands. Many tools. One battery system: All tools ‒ from compact drill drivers to miter saws with up to 2,000W of equivalent corded power ‒ can run on the same 18V lithium-ion battery and charger, thus saving tradespeople time, space, and money.

Entry-level rotary hammer with all relevant functions

Bosch has equipped the GBH 18V-22 Professional with all the functions professional users require to work efficiently on the jobsite, including high user protection through KickBack Control and Vibration Control. Thanks to KickBack Control, the built-in sensor shuts off the motor in a fraction of a second if the rotary hammer suddenly and unpredictably rotates around the drilling axis – which can happen if, for example, it jams in reinforced concrete. This feature prevents unexpected kickback and may reduce the risk of injury. Another new feature compared to the previous model is Vibration Control. By suppressing vibrations, users can minimize fatigue and protect their long-term health. The tool, which features a durable, brushless motor, is optimized for drilling into concrete at diameters of 6 to 12 mm. The maximum drill diameter is 12 mm with dust extraction, or 22 mm without dust extraction.

At a glance: Benefits of the dust extractor

Even with the dust extractor attached, the rotary hammer’s center of gravity remains aligned with the hand and arm of the user, reducing fatigue from working overhead. In addition, the work area is always well lit, thanks to the LEDs on both the rotary hammer and – for the first time – the dust extractor. If necessary, the GDE 18V-12 Professional can even be ‘clicked’ onto the hammer with just one hand. The transparent dust box lets users keep an eye on dust levels at any time. Emptying the dust box is quick and simple, as the dust extractor does not even need to be detached from the rotary hammer. With the dust extractor, drill bits up to 100 mm in length can be used. The dust extractor also comes with a detachable dust eye and a ring brush, both of which can be swapped out when needed.

The GBH 18V-22 Professional cordless rotary hammer and the GDE 18V-12 Professional dust extractor will be available starting in September. Many different accessories are available as part of the Bosch accessory range. All prices are recommended retail prices and do not include VAT.
