Panasonic Launches the Campaign “Live Green and Wellness with Gen G” towards a Green, Wellness and Sustainable Lifestyle for Young Generations, Pioneering in Solving the Problem of Global Warming

Panasonic Vietnam officially launched its “Live Green and Wellness with Gen G” campaign to inspire young Vietnamese people as well as other members of the public to lead an environment-friendly and comprehensively healthy lifestyle, actively contributing to the wellness and sustainable development of Vietnam. The campaign includes a variety of online and offline activities aimed at promoting awareness, providing empowerment, and facilitating capacity building for Vietnamese youth in relation to the topics of the environment and climate change. The Center for Natural Resources and Environment and Communication—the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and other partners such as the United Nations Development Program, NGOs and youth networks of the Central Youth Union will also be contributing to this program.

The “Live Green and Wellness with Gen G” campaign is one of many initiative being undertaken toward realizing the Panasonic Group’s commitment to “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT”, which was announced in January this year. CEO Yuki Kusumi has firmly declared the Group’s ambitious commitment to reaching net zero by 2030 in Panasonic operating companies worldwide and reducing CO2 emissions by 300 million tons throughout its value chain by 2050, equivalent to 1% of current global CO2 emissions.

“With Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, we see our pioneering role in tackling the issue of climate change through our business and CSR activities. This program invites Vietnamese young people to join in ‘Gen G’—our new concept of a Leading Green Generation. I believe that you—young people—can be a driving force and an inspiration for the whole of society to generate a positive impact. And Gen G will become the new definition of cool lifestyles for young Vietnamese people, full of energy, empowerment, knowledge and skillsets needed to ACT GREEN and LIVE WELLNESS not only for themselves, but for the whole community and society.” — Mr. Marukawa Yoichi, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam

Accompanying young Vietnamese people, Panasonic now introduces GEN G—a brand-new concept which is in fact not limited to Gen Z or young people. However, the highlight of this generation is modeled through a group of young and very active “ambassadors”, including Khanh Vy and Helly Tong in particular as two very dynamic representatives for Vietnamese young people who are not only young and talented, but also well-known for their leadership roles in social-environment activities. In addition, they are accompanied by their Metaverse friend Hina Nguyen, a figure who is eager to discover and learn to help build a better tomorrow.

Built around these characters will be a variety of stories and activities, which are expected to draw the attention of Gen Z. While participating in these activities, Gen Z will be joining as driving force for Gen G, and empowering them to contribute their vital part to their community and Vietnam in general. Some of the activities are as follows:

  • Let’s learn about and inspire a new lifestyle with Hina Nguyen: through short but inspirational video clips, the journey of Hina and other Gen G ambassadors will be revealed to young people in a supportive and practical way, which we expect to generate values to young people. They can learn how to decorate their houses with Helly Tong and Hina, hear from MC Khanh Vy about her useful tips for dealing with a very busy schedule, or learn how to manage personal finance, other energy efficient tips daily and more with Hina.
  • Participate in 7-day challenge online with best practices sharing over the Tet holiday and beyond. Join Panasonic in making a contribution to society. In this movement, Panasonic will collaborate with CNREC and other NGOs such as Live and Learn, CFC and others in aims to generate valuable chances for young people to take action, especially during the Tet holiday, when we need to focus our attention to the environment and wellness with issues such as waste collecting, protecting ponds and rivers, cleaning houses, mainlining healthy diet s and more.
  • Gen G Ambassador Program is a meaningful playground for those who are keen to study deeper and propose their own initiatives addressing issues relating to climate change and the environment. Youngsters can participate by registering their initial initiatives. They will be guided through a process of combined online training and field trips, offline training camp and more with the support of Panasonic and experts in different fields, to sharpen their knowledge step by step, and expand their capacity and skillsets to validate such initiative for a project. The best projects may be granted financial support by Panasonic to start their journey into real life applications to deliver real value to the community.

Accompanying the program, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung—Director of the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication shared:

“This campaign of Panasonic’s continues to bring meaningful messages and activities to improve the quality of life and community awareness, and encourages society to live green together. This is a great opportunity to help spread awareness about environmental protection and emission reduction to the entire community and society. We appreciate the practicality of the program and Panasonic’s joint efforts with the government and the community in their efforts to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam.”

In addition to this campaign, Panasonic has been consistently carrying out a number of other initiatives in Vietnam, such as the “Live Wellness, Contribute Green with Panasonic”, the largest-scale reforestation program ever with the participation of partners and customers across the country, launched in October of last year in response to the Government’s call to tackle climate change and to continue the journey “for a green Vietnam”. The program aims to contributes to Vietnam’s efforts to plant one billion trees nationwide, realizing net CO2 emissions in Vietnam by 2050 as PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc declared in UN COP26 last year, and at the same time contributing to “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT”.

In Vietnam, for the past few years, Panasonic has actively implemented various social responsibility programs for the environment. It has devoted many of its efforts toward various activities to raise public awareness about environmental protection such as organizing environmental classes for local students, inspiring future generations through its “Paintings to donate trees” competition, or the film-making program “Kid Witness News”.

With such efforts and enthusiasm, the “Live Green and Wellness with Gen G” campaign continues Panasonic’s mission and vision towards “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT” globally and realizes its vision of wellness and sustainability for Vietnam in the next 50 years as well.
