Amazon Canada Announces a Season of Giving – Teaming Up with Mitch Marner, Charles Hamelin, and others to Deliver Smiles Across Canada this Holiday Season

Amazon Canada announced a season of giving with the help of some famous Canadians and three of its charitable partners; Breakfast Club of CanadaBig Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, and TakingITGlobal. It also marks the launch of The Kindness Exchange, a travelling pop-up encouraging Canadians to embrace the season of giving and pledge an act of holiday kindness in exchange for a gift from Amazon.

Breakfast Club of Canada helps provide healthy and nutritious breakfasts to children in programs across Canada to help them reach their full potential and get the most out of their school day. This year alone, Amazon Canada has helped Breakfast Club of Canada (BCC) remove over eight schools from the wait list, supporting the schools to operate a breakfast program for at least three more years. For the holiday season, Amazon Canada will make a donation of $100,000 to BCC, which will help provide 220,000 meals for children across Canada and brings Amazon Canada’s total 2022 donation to the BCC to over $1M.

TakingITGlobal is one of the world’s leading networks of young people learning about, engaging with, and working towards tackling global challenges. Besides receiving a $100,000 donation from Amazon Canada, to inspire the next generation of youth activists through virtual workshops, TakingITGlobal will host virtual workshops with Mitch Marner, Charles Hamelin, Michelle Chubb, and Devery Jacobs, who will be speaking to hundreds of Indigenous students across the country over December.

For over 100 years, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Canada has been championing the health and well-being of youth, and for the third year in a row, Amazon Canada has teamed up with them to support families in need during the holiday season. Along with giving a $100,000 donation, Amazon Canada has set up a toy donation drive, where customers can purchase a toy to donate to a child in need for the holidays. There are over 10 chapters/cities to choose from, including Calgary, Eastern Newfoundland, Greater Halifax, Ottawa, British Columbia Lower Mainland, Lanark County, Greater Montreal, Saskatoon, Toronto, and Winnipeg.

“I am honoured to be a part of this year’s Delivering Smiles campaign with Amazon Canada, from helping kids across the country kick-start their success at the beginning of each day with breakfast, to ensuring kids have a gift to open on Christmas morning,” says Mitch Marner, who is participating in Amazon Canada’s Delivering Smiles campaign for the second time now. “For me, the holidays are all about sharing and I could not be prouder to help bring this initiative to life.”

“Positive change starts with a smile,” says Charles Hamelin. “Being even just a small part of that inspiration means the world to me, and I look forward to not only building on the work I have done with Breakfast Club of Canada and Amazon Canada this year, but also connecting with students through my workshop with TakingITGlobal to discuss how we can create strong communities, bright futures and big smiles together.”

Inspired by the charitable contributions of Amazon employees from coast-to-coast, Amazon Canada is launching the Kindness Exchange, a travelling pop-up encouraging Canadians to embrace the season of giving and pledge an act of holiday kindness in exchange for a $50 Amazon gift card. The Kindness Exchange will kick off at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto on December 13, before travelling across the country to Hamilton (Wednesday, December 14), Calgary (Wednesday, December 14), Vancouver (Thursday, December 15) and Montreal (Monday December 19), teaming up with local charities along the way.

Amazon Canada is proud to support local charities in the communities in which their customers and employees live and work by providing them with the support they need. From product donations to in-person and virtual events, customers can follow along online via the #DeliveringSmiles hashtag to discover all the exciting ways that Amazon Canada will be delivering smiles coast-to-coast this holiday season.
